Yet I Hide in You

The other day I came crying, spiraling

into the Arms of Shelter I have always known.

I didn’t know any better

than to hide in You,

my Shield, my Fortress, and my Defense.

Lord, they had me.

I hid from all of them in You.

Your everlasting arms

and everlasting strength

kept me within the warmth of Your embrace.

I shook in response.

I knew only You could protect me,

only You could shield me

from the frivolous accusations,

from the stories written and spoken of me.

I knew I could find strength

only in my “Saving Strength,”

my Shield and my Portion.

Lord, when I think of You

and the beautiful things

You have done with my life,

I struggle, I struggle to comprehend

the magnitude of love and grace

You have shown me.

I long to see Your face, to see this God

with whom I have communed night and day,

whose hand has wrought so strongly

upon the affairs of my life.

“Oh, to serve You.

Oh, to know You.”

My God.

My Shield.

My Strength.

Yet in all this,

I hide in You, my Keeper, my Comfort,

and my Exceedingly Great Reward.

My King.

My Savior.

My Prince of Peace.

Thank You, Lord Jesus,

for saving my soul.

I am forever

Born Again.

Amen.
