That this would be the woman
I’d gladly bind a ring around her finger
Was certainly, without a doubt.
I met a woman of great worth,
Of noble countenance and impeccable stature,
A woman who fears the Lord.
The foundations of her house stand steady,
Fine-tuned to her loving care.
I found a lady of great promise—
“Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh.”
A rare kind, a treasure in this one,
A woman of uncommon substance.
How good a thing I discovered in her:
Favor, the essence of her brooks;
Grace, the emblem of her stance;
Peace, the estate of her subtleties.
A woman of undeniable fortune,
One I’d gladly “spend and be spent” for.
To cherish as the love of my life,
As the Lord cherished the Church from the beginning.
Doesn’t the Holy Book declare,
“A good wife is a great blessing;
She will be counted among the blessings
Of the man who fears the Lord.”
